Through award-winning Australian and international exhibitions, films, festivals, live events, creative workshops, education programs and resources, ACMI provides unsurpassed ways to engage with the moving image.
Starting life as the State Film Centre in 1946, ACMI evolved from being a collection-based institution to an internationally recognised hub for screening and advocacy, screen education, industry engagement and audience involvement.
As a major cultural, tourism and learning attraction, ACMI is an integral element in Melbourne's position as one of the world's truly creative cities.
Public car parking is available at Federation Square and in Flinders Lane.
The Federation Square car park is accessible via the main entrance on Russell Street, or via the service road on Batman Avenue.

Public Transport
You can catch buses, trams or trains to Federation Square. Timetable information is available from Public Transport Victoria by calling 1800 800 007 or on their website at: http://ptv.vic.gov.au/
Tram numbers 48, 70, 75 and the City Circle tram stop on Flinders Street outside Federation Square. Tram numbers 1, 3, 5, 6, 8, 16, 22, 64, 67, 72 stop outside Flinders Street Station.
There are two entry points to ACMI for visitors who require wheelchair access. The main entrance is from the Fed Square plaza. There is also an accessibility entrance located at the Flinders Street facade where a lift can take visitors up to the Entry Level.
Lifts
The central lift provides disabled access to the Cinemas Level. Cinema 1 has an internal lift that takes visitors to the back row of the auditorium where two reserved wheelchair spaces are available. Cinema 2 has four wheelchair spaces available at the rear.
The lift opposite the Australian Mediatheque provides disabled access down to the Galleries Level.
Gallery 1 is accessed via a lift located near the entrance stairs.
Wheelchairs
Wheelchairs are available for use within ACMI. Present your identification at the Tickets & Information Desk on the Entry Level to borrow a wheelchair free of charge. Wheelchair access is available in all of our gallery spaces, cinemas and studios.
Assistive Listening Devices
Assistive listening devices are available for use in the ACMI cinemas and Studio 1. The devices use standard headphones or can connect with your hearing aid via a neck loop. Present your identification at the Tickets & Information Desk on the Entry Level to borrow a device free of charge. Guide Dogs and other registered assistance dogs are welcome at ACMI.
